While inflation reached 5.8% over one year in June and could reach 7% at the start of the school year, Sandrine Rousseau, EELV-Nupes deputy for the 9th district of Paris, returned this morning to the microphone of Thierry Dagiral on the issue of purchasing power. According to her, the problem comes from the fact that “the government did not anticipate enough”.

While inflation should reach 7% at the start of the school year, making the daily life of many French people difficult, Sandrine Rousseau, EELV – Nupes deputy for the 9th district of Paris, returned to the question of purchasing power this Tuesday at the microphone of Europe 1. According to her, this situation occurs because “the government is not sufficiently anticipated, we are always up against the wall, overreacting,” she said.

“We have nothing that allows us to enter a controlled future”

“They are always there waiting for the disaster to happen and once it is there, they decide to make a small gesture”, she added, in particular in reference to the discount of 30 cents on fuel, announced at the end of the last week by the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire. This will be effective from September and should be added to the reduction of 20 cents at the pump set up by the TotalEnergies group “which they proposed to avoid the tax on excess profits”, estimates Sandrine Rousseau.

For the MP, these boosts are not the right answer, in particular because “we have nothing structural, not even a tax on excess profits to finance this. We have nothing that allows us to enter a future that is more controlled,” she concluded.
