“I actually went to the bathroom to do my hair and I didn’t think I’d be wearing that (wearing the orange cap). Yeah, it was sweating a lot, it got in my eyes too. Yeah, the short limits play a role, as a hitter we have to keep that in mind and target based on that. When the bowlers have bowled on the right zone, we only have to think about taking doubles. I thought that the ball was hanging out a bit in the first two overs, and there was no grass on the pitch, so the ball was coming to the bat fine as well due to some wet spots on the pitch, the ball stopped going swing,” Gill said after his innings.
The impressive feat marks Gill’s third century in the IPL 2023, with three of his last four rounds going centuries. As a result, he currently tops the Orange Cap by a significant margin and is close to winning the prize. In a crucial IPL 2023 Qualifier match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, Gill once again proved his worth as a rising cricketing star.
