Watch the New York 2023 parade video
St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. And the same goes for the famous parade in New York to celebrate the holidays.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York claims to be the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world. About 150,000 people march in the spectacle each year, according to parade organizers.
According to the parade’s website, the first St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York was held on March 17, 1762 – 14 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The parade falls on March 17 almost every year, with the exception of when the 17th falls on a Sunday – when the parade is moved to March 16, to observe the Sunday Sabbath.
