The Washington commanders responded to allegations about their poor accounting.
Congress has investigated the commanders, as well as the NFL’s role in aiding the team, over allegations of sexual harassment. But last week the government said it was focusing on allegations of poor financial accounting by the team.
On Saturday, we learned that one of the allegations was that commanders had withheld NFL ticket revenue. Teams are supposed to donate 40% of their ticket revenue from home games to the league to be split between the teams. Washington has been accused of pocketing extra revenue, which would amount to stealing from other teams and players.
In a statement released on Monday, the commanders vehemently denied the allegations.
