Was shocked by Burnley’s decision to sack Sean Dyche last week, admits Peter Crouch

Former Burnley striker Peter Crouch has admitted he was shocked to learn the English club sacked long-serving manager Sean Dyche last week and criticized the owners for making a hasty decision. The England manager was dismissed as manager on Friday due to poor form.

Sean Dyche has been named Burnley manager in 2012 as the England manager attempted to lead his side to Championship promotion to the Premier League. However, not only did he do so, but he oversaw two successful promotions to the top flight during his tenure in charge of the club. The Clarets finished in seventh place in the 2017/18 campaign under Dyche and the Clarets entered the Europa League the following year as they witnessed a metrical surge.

The 50-year-old has shown his prowess on numerous occasions keeping the team in the league for several seasons despite their modest recruiting spending. It hasn’t gone to plan for Dyche this season as his side have been locked in a relegation battle and are in serious danger of leaving English football’s premier competition.

A decision has been made by the Burnley hierarchy to relieve Dyche of his managerial duties as they seek to reverse their fortunes and end the campaign in force. In light of this, revered striker Peter Crouch, who spent time working under Dyche, expressed shock at the decision and hit out at the owners.

“I worked with Sean Dyche for the last six months of my career and was shocked by Burnley’s decision to fire him at the end of last week. They could have gone straight back with Sean. Who d “Would you rather be in charge in the Championship? It makes no sense. He’s barely had any money in the last 10 years,” Crouch told the Daily Mail.

“The fact that what he has achieved is not taken into account makes me worry about the decision-making process at Turf Moor. I feared for Burnley when ALK Capital took over the club last year and the moves that ‘they have since confirmed it,’ he added.
