(WJW) – Walmart has launched its largest privately held grocery brand in two decades, company officials announced in a press release Tuesday.
The new brand, called bettergoods, is described as “an elevated new experience that delivers quality, unique, chef-inspired food at an incredible value,” according to Walmart.
The company boasts that premium items cost between less than $2 and less than $15, but most items released under the new brand cost less than $5.
Walmart plans to offer at least 300 Bettergoods products in the coming months, but company officials say shoppers can already find products in its stores and online.
Bettergoods items will be available for curbside pickup and same-day delivery, according to the press release.
The new brand is comprised of a variety of products found in every grocery aisle, including frozen foods, dairy, beverages, snacks, soups, pastas and coffee, among others.
The articles fall into three categories: “culinary experiences,” “plant-based,” and “made without,” the latter focusing on options for different dietary lifestyles.
Walmart executives stressed that customers today expect more from the private brands they find in stores.
“Bettergoods is much more than just a new private label. It’s a commitment to our customers that they can enjoy unique culinary flavors at the incredible price Walmart offers,” said Scott Morris, senior vice president of private brands, food and consumables at Walmart, in the Press release.
