Their preparations for this summer’s Euros have been extremely difficult with boss Ryan Giggs replaced by Robert Page due to off-court issues and several members of their team struggling for their fitness.

Now they hope to put that behind them and start their tournament on the right foot with a positive result against the Swiss.

Gareth Bale and co will be in Azerbaijan for their Group A opener and will be looking to bring up memories of the last Euros.

Wales v Switzerland: what has been said?

Wales interim boss Robert Page has welcomed Wales with Euro 2020’s youngest third team by insisting his inexperienced players have the ambition and thirst to succeed.

“I have a great group and a great mix,” Page said.

“The older ones have a lot of character, temperament and personality.

“But we have young, ambitious and hungry players coming into the squad and wanting their shirts. No one can rest on what they have done before.

“There is a good mix and on top of that they are good characters.

“I compare it to a club environment and it’s hard to achieve when you only have them for sporadic times throughout the year.”
