Wales head coach Sara Hale has announced a 12-man squad for the national team’s upcoming test against South Africa.

The competition is due to take place in Lisburn, Northern Ireland on October 24, as both teams look to earn valuable playing time ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Like so many national teams, Wales and South Africa have been unable to make it to the pitch for a long time due to COVID-19, and this match will provide both head coaches with information. vital to their players.

For this test match, Suzy Drane and Nia Jones will take on the roles of co-captains and Hale has announced a squad that contains a good mix of experienced players and new faces.

Badenhorst announces South Africa squad

Meanwhile, SPAR Proteas head coach Dorette Badenhorst has selected a group of 15 athletes for their next round of matches, which includes their test against Wales.

South Africa had originally planned to compete against Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago in the Margaret Beckford Sunshine series, but decided not to participate in the series due to COVID-19 precautions.

Four Badenhorst caps – Boitumelo Mahloko, Jessica du Plessis, Refiloe Nketsa and Elmere van der Berg – will look to land their first caps on the trip.

“We have set ourselves goals on and off the court. We will take every opportunity to try certain combinations, create new ones and perfect the ones we have now.
