Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made history after his whirlwind 24 hours
Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a night to remember on Wednesday night, hitting three homers in a 6-4 win over the New York Yankees.
But the game of baseball is weird and found a way to change some things just a day later.
On the heels of his momentous night, Guerrero had a night to forget Thursday, going 0 for 4 with four strikeouts.
In much simpler terms, Guerrero earned himself a Golden Sombrero.
In fact, Guerrero is the first player to have a four-out game on the heels of a three-home run game since Major League Baseball began tracking strikeouts as an official stat (1910 in the NL, 1913 in the AL).

baseball madness
It’s an unfortunate story to be a part of, but it shows just how crazy the game of baseball really can be.
It’s so rare for things like this to happen, but then again, that’s baseball.
Always expect the unexpected when it comes to a game like this.
It also shows that the craziest and worst things can happen to some of the best in the business.
Although it’s rare, it’s more common than you might think.
The baseball gods can do the weirdest things.
This game is definitely finicky.
Everyone guesses why the game is like this.
What is certain is that Guerrero is part of an unfortunate history.
But if he can follow a three-home run game with a four-out game, that means he can’t follow last night’s performance with another breakout.
Maybe he’ll hit four home runs tonight.
We never know.
