Senior IRS officer Vivek Johri has assumed the presidency of the Central Council for Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
Johri, an agent of the Indian Revenue Service (customs and indirect taxes) in 1985, worked as a member of the board of directors.
“Sh. Vivek Johri, IRS (C&IT: 1985) takes over the chairmanship of the Central Council for Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) effective December 1, 2021,” the CBIC said in a tweet Wednesday.
He succeeds Mr. Ajit Kumar who ends his mandate at the end of the month.
