Surrey Storm and Wasps will not go to court on Sunday for their Matchday 19 game, which has been postponed

Vitality Netball Superleague have announced that the Matchday 19 game between Surrey Storm and Wasps has been postponed.

A member of the Wasps playing team returned a positive COVID-19 result as part of the league-wide weekly testing program. A final PCR test to confirm the result was not received in time for the teams to make it to the Copper Box Arena.

In a statement released on Saturday night, Vitality Netball Superleague said they have made the decision to postpone the game because they cannot take any risks with the health and safety of players, staff and officials.

A new date for the postponed match, if the individual test is negative, will be announced in due course.

With Wasps one of the teams still vying for the only play-off spot left, the Vitality Netball Superleague have sought to reassure fans that they are working closely with everyone involved with regards to the next steps.

“We understand that as we approach the final stages of the season there will be questions about the impact of this news on the remaining matches and the final standings,” another statement added on Sunday.

“Our priority remains the health and safety of everyone involved in delivering the Vitality Netball Superleague. We are currently working closely with clubs and all stakeholders to confirm next steps and will notify everyone as soon as possible. possible.”

Neither the Vitality Netball Superleague nor the Wasps will name the person involved and the league has requested that their privacy be respected.

Vitality Netball Superleague – Revised Matchday 19 Schedule

Sunday – 2 p.m. Strathclyde Sirens vs Celtic Dragons
Sunday – 4 p.m. Team Bath Netball vs. Saracens Mavericks
Sunday – 6 p.m. London Pulse vs. Severn Stars
Monday – 5:15 p.m. London Pulse vs. Saracens Mavericks
Tuesday – 7.15 p.m. Loughborough Lightning vs. Manchester Thunder

Three more Round 19 fixtures will take place on Sunday afternoon, starting with Strathclyde Sirens vs Celtic Dragons at 2pm. After that, the Bath Netball team will meet the Saracens Mavericks before London Pulse faces Severn Stars.

Round 19 will then continue on Monday night when London Pulse returns to the pitch to face the Saracens Mavericks and Loughborough Lightning duel with Manchester Thunder.

Each match will be broadcast on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, with Monday’s fixtures being broadcast live on Sky Sports Mix.
