Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle may have garnered more attention in recent years for their style choices, but the Queen was making headlines for her mixed prints and color blocking long before they were around.
Later, she was known for her color-coordinated costumes and elaborate hats, which came from a meticulously planned and pre-assembled wardrobe. She even employed someone to carry her shoes and wore lots of blue.
But she was no less forward-thinking than she was during some of her earlier, less-anticipated moments. Like, say, a trendy coat at age 9 or the many flower crowns she’s worn over the years.
