Amy Grant is progressing on the road to recovery.
The Christian singer, who was injured in a bicycle accident in July, was unable to attend the red carpet and taping of husband Vince Gill’s “CMT Giants: Vince Gill” special in Nashville, Tennessee, Monday.
Gill gave an update on his wife’s health during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the event.
“She’s doing great,” Gill said. “She’s pretty heartbroken that she can’t be here tonight, but with her accident and all that, they kind of felt that the best thing for her was to just keep quiet. It’s hard for her because she is very active.”

Although Grant was unable to provide moral support in person, Gill said his presence never wanes.
“She knows she’s well-regarded, well-loved and represented tonight, so it’s all good,” Gill said.
On July 27, Grant was riding her bike near a golf course with a friend when she hit a pothole, Grant’s rep Velvet Kelm confirmed to USA TODAY. She was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident.
First responders transported the “Heart In Motion” hit singer to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she spent two nights while doctors treated Grant for injuries sustained in the crash.
The accident forced Grant to postpone his fall tour shows, which were rescheduled for early 2023, according to an August statement from Grant’s management team. She hopes to hit the road again in November for a holiday tour with Michael W. Smith.
His Christmas concert residency at the Ryman Auditorium with Gill — a Nashville holiday tradition — remains scheduled for December.

Gill paid tribute to Grant during a performance in Nashville in August, singing her 2019 single “When My Amy Prays” near the end of her show. The lyrics were poignantly changed to “when my mama prays” as Gill and Grant’s 21-year-old daughter Corrina joined Gill on stage for the heartfelt tune.
“Amy and I grew up very differently. She never missed church and I never went. And just because we got married, I didn’t have to say, ‘Hey, I’m going go to church every weekend.’ So there’s truth, there’s your honesty in the song,” Gill said of the song’s inspiration in a 2019 interview.
“We all try to change ourselves sometimes. When we find our way with someone, we want them to be more like me and you want me to be more like you,” Gill continued. “And that just won’t happen. The best way to love someone is at their worst. If you can find a way to love someone at their worst, you’re going to win.”
