Video shows tornado on ground in southeast Nebraska amid storm warning
A tornado was spotted on the ground in southeastern Nebraska, where several warnings were issued for western portions of the Omaha metro area.
The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado north of Waverly, Nebraska, that was moving northeast shortly after 3 p.m. local time on Friday. Authorities urged residents in the area to seek shelter immediately.
A massive tornado intercept was observed north of Lincoln, also in Lancaster County, according to footage posted to X (formerly Twitter) by SevereStudios weather videographer Nick Gorman.

Tornado warnings were issued Friday afternoon for an area near Interstate 80 between Lincoln and Omaha, the Nebraska State Patrol said.

Tornadoes reported in Kansas, Wyoming and Colorado
At least three other tornadoes have been reported since Thursday, including one near Bird City, Kansas, one in Yoder, Wyoming and another near Akron, Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
More storms are expected to develop Friday on the eastern side of the Plains, bringing possible additional tornadoes and hail. The threat of more severe weather is possible by Saturday, with storms bringing frequent lightning and severe wind gusts to the Middle Mississippi Valley and central and southern Plains.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly declared a state of emergency due to severe weather.
“I encourage all Kansans to have an emergency kit and family plan in preparation for a tornado,” said Governor Kelly. “Stay informed of local weather conditions by listening to a NOAA weather radio or local television and radio stations. Once a warning is activated, it is important to take shelter.”
