Video of Tire Nichols’ arrest to be released by City of Memphis

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn ‘CJ’ Davis says paramedics who were on the scene at one point during the traffic stop in Tire Nichols ‘did not provide proper care’ .
“Based on the video, they didn’t render proper care, and that’s just based on my assessment,” she told CNN on Friday in her first interview since the incident.
The care came “several minutes” later, she said, adding that it was “worrying for all of us, that we see a number of failures where individuals have not exercised the amount of care that we are responsible – whatever the cause is we are responsible for exercising caution.
Davis noted that the fire chief also quickly launched an investigation into their actions at the scene.
Nichols suffered “profuse bleeding from a severe beating”, according to preliminary results of an autopsy commissioned by his family’s attorneys.
“We can say that preliminary findings indicate that Tyr suffered profuse bleeding from a severe beating, and that his observed injuries are consistent with what family and attorneys have seen on video of his fatal encounter with the police on January 7, 2023,” the attorney said. Benjamin Crump said in a statement.
CNN asked Crump for a copy of the autopsy the family commissioned, but he said the full report was not yet ready. Authorities have also not released Nichols’ autopsy.
