Images of a scantily clad drag queen leading a child around a bar to collect tips have sparked calls for a crackdown
A video showing a drag queen wearing only sequined panties and a harness leading a tiara-adorned girl around a bar has sparked outrage and demands for legal action from viewers after the clip went viral over the weekend.
“These people belong in prison“,” conservative pundit Lauren Chen tweeted on Saturday in response to the video, adding that the problem was a “hill [she was] ready to die.”
Footage shows the anonymous performer strutting around Miami’s R House Wynwood restaurant in a cash-stuffed thong and huge bare breasts, hand in hand with the child – who was apparently also in charge of collecting the cash tips client.
It was posted on TikTok by user @nononoie, who captioned it “kids belong in drag shows!!!! children deserve to see fun, expression and freedom.” The user has since locked the account, according to the Daily Mail.
Many other commenters piled on the video after Chen drew attention to it, demanding Florida Governor Ron DeSantis “prove [his] the penalty” and “make sure that person is arrested and the place is closed.”
“These people deserve jail and possibly hell“, tweeted another user.
R House Wynwood Announces “drag extravaganzas“Three days a week. The menu for her”drag brunchis explicitly kid-friendly, with a “kids brunch“Option for children under 12 that includes two foods, a non-alcoholic drink and “of course our fabulous show.” It’s unclear if the video of the drag queen with the little girl was shot at one of those brunches, but the lack of reaction from patrons to the kid with wads of cash in her hands suggests she was not the only young person present.
US State Bans Teaching Gender Ideology
A growing number of American parents have publicly expressed their revulsion at the trend of drag shows aimed at children, from the library’s “hours of drag queen stories” to real kids’ drag queens such as Desmond Is Amazing and Lactatia. Many see the events as examples of grooming by pedophiles – a perception that is not helped by the fact that several of the drag queen story time performers turned out to be convicted sex offenders. In a particularly egregious case last week, drag performer Brice Patric Ryschon Williams, who danced for children, was charged with 25 counts of child pornography in Pennsylvania.
The state of Florida recently passed a law prohibiting the inappropriate teaching of material related to sexual orientation and gender ideology in kindergarten through third grade schools. However, this does not govern extracurricular events such as drag queen story hours or drag queen brunches, and it is unclear what law the many outraged parents responding to the viral Miami video expect. DeSantis applies.
