Video captures rapid gunfire in River North shooting that left two injured – CBS Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) – Two men are injured after a shooting in River North, one with a scrape to the face and the other with a gunshot to the leg and face.

The shooting occurred on Huron Street just outside the Green Door Tavern, where a bullet was still lodged in the Sunday night side.

“It looked like an automatic weapon going off, probably 20 to 30 rounds in very quick succession,” witness Brian Schmitt said.

Just before midnight outside a Huron Street house, further gunfire can be heard on a Nest video just before two cars are seen driving past Green Door Tavern, the historic tavern bearing a new battle scar with a bullet lodged under its side window.

Shortly after the gunfire, just two blocks east on the same street, a red car completely overturned just outside the Avli restaurant. The two cars beside him on the side of the road also showed signs of significant damage.

Debris and more than 30 evidence markers were scattered across the street. In one of the videos posted on the Citizen app, a user can get close to some of the gun evidence. Another video taken from a nearby apartment building shows police canvassing nearby streets and alleys and removing what appears to be a handgun from the overturned car.
