Vatican press conference to discuss apparitions: How to watch
The Vatican is offering a preview of the apparitions and other supernatural phenomena Friday in a news conference that will be streamed live on YouTube.
The press conference is scheduled for 6 a.m. ET on Friday, when the Vatican is expected to present guidance on the new provisions of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, according to a press release from the Office of Holy See Press. The focus of discussion will be on the apparition, which the Bible Encyclopedia describes as a supernatural or spiritual visitor.
Vatican officials are also expected to release updated documentation on the apparitions on Friday.
The current guidelines outline the direct actions authorities should take when someone reports an apparition, including determining whether the claim is valid based on positive and negative criteria. The guidelines also ask officials to “cautiously permit any public display of worship or devotion” and to express judgment on the merits of the supernatural claim.
Three speakers are scheduled for the conference, including Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Archbishop Armando Matteo and Sister Daniela Del Gaudio.

The apparitions mainly concern divine entities including saints or the Virgin Mary.

The new guidelines mark the first revisions to its doctrine regarding apparitions since 1978.
As of April, the dicastery was “finalizing a new text with clear guidelines and standards for the discernment of apparitions and other phenomena,” the dicastery told the National Catholic Register.
