Used-car sellers aren’t running out of gas yet

Last year, used-car retailers were on a roll, fueled by shortages of new vehicles, low interest rates and strong consumption. Are they running out of gas?

Not quite yet. CarMax the largest such retailer in the United States, said on Friday that its total revenue rose 21% in the quarter ended May 31 from a year earlier, an increase of 18% expected by analysts interviewed by Visible Alpha. The net result was largely in line with expectations. Its shares were up 7% at noon.
