The United States has maintained a conservative stance on reopening its borders for discretionary travel, even as other countries like Canada relax restrictions.
Psaki said administration officials remained in “active discussion on a range of measures that can be taken” on travel, guided by his own health experts.
“For each of these recommendations, we will always be guided by our North Star, which is the CDC and our experts in health and medicine,” she said.
Psaki declined to say whether the United States would extend the mask’s mandate on public transportation, which is set to expire in September.
“I don’t want to preempt advice from our CDC, but they will certainly continue to provide advice on masks that protect more people,” she said.
