Beckham played alongside Harvey Neville, the son of Inter Miami head coach and former Man United defender Phil Neville.

Neville and Beckham were teammates at Premier League club Manchester United.

And Sciaretta said the youngster showed great promise in the game, although he admitted there was a long way to go for the teenager.

“He’s playing in the same position as his dad, on the wing,” he told Hawksbee and Baker.

“You could tell he’s been in and around the game for quite some time. He created very good chances.

“It’s a low level but a good starting point for him. It was a good start, so we’ll see where it takes him.

“It’s a long way from that to the first team. He’s at several divisions of MLS, but he’s young and has time for himself.

“It’s a good starting point so we’ll see where it goes from there.”

When asked if he was looking out of its depth, he added, “No. When you make these great appearances and all eyes are on you, you have this burst of energy.

One down, I hope there’s still plenty left for young Romeo

“You can be a little pushy and impatient, but when you get into the nitty-gritty, play, go out, that stuff just goes away.

“It’s something exciting. He held on and played well and now it’s about seeing how he can do when the eyes aren’t.

After the game, Beckham Jr. said he was “blessed” to have made his debut.

“Glad I made my professional debut,” Romeo said in an Instagram post with a photo of him in the number 11 shirt.

“Full focus on the next game.”
