Undefeated Russian MMA queen speaks to fans after fight issues – Reuters

Diana Avsaragova thanked her fans and practice squad after picking up another win under the Bellator banner

Rising Russian MMA prospect Diana Avsaragova has hailed her team after the 23-year-old fan favorite emerged victorious after problematic preparation in her latest Bellator outing.

Avsaragova picked up a unanimous decision victory over her short-notice opponent Kyra Batara in her flyweight bout at Bellator 276 in St. Louis this weekend.

“Pantera” remains undefeated in three fights since joining Bellator and improved her career record to an unblemished 5-0.

Batara had stepped in to take the fight after Avsaragova’s original opponent, Ashley Deen, was kicked out of the contest midway through the fight week.

Fight veteran Batara was on a three-fight winning streak heading into the contest but was competing for the first time since 2019. She was a game rival nonetheless as she forced ‘Pantera’ into a fight for a decisive win in 15 minutes .

Avsaragova – a North Ossetian native who trained with Grozny-based team Akhmat Sila – said the build-up to the fight was fraught with challenges but she was grateful it even happened .

“My third [Bellator] fight week is history now,” Avsaragova wrote in a post on her Instagram account of 326,000 people.

“You can’t imagine how many problems we had before this fight, but I’m so happy to be victorious.

“First of all thank you to my team and my head coach and all my sparring partners. My cornermen for the support and attention during the fight and the fight week… My managers for saving this fight, my sponsors and partners.

“Huge respect to my opponent who took this fight on very short notice and saved it.

“And you my dear fans, I really appreciate your support, it’s our common victory.”

After exploding onto the Bellator scene with a knockout victory within the first 30 seconds of her debut against Tara Graff in April last year, the photogenic Avsaragova has continued to gain admirers as she continues her rise.

The fighter herself teased a showdown with Valeria Loureda, another Bellator social media favorite, asking fans in late January if they’d like to see her take on the 23-year-old Miami fighter.
