Jeamie Tshikeva suffered a nasty cut during the first defeat of his young professional boxing career.
The Brit took on Igor Adiel Macedo at the legendary York Hall on Saturday night in Tshikeva’s sixth professional fight.
And six rounds into the fight, Macedo landed a heavy right hand that opened a gruesome cut above Tshikeva’s left eye.
The referee immediately recognized the severity of the cut and quickly ended the fight, while Tshikeva was treated by her corner and the ringside doctor.
Tshikeva was a highly regarded amateur and previously undefeated before this latest competition.
But now the Briton’s record stands at 5-1, with three knockouts to his name.
And boxing fans may not see Tshikeva in the ring for a while, as it will take time for her to recover from such a gruesome injury.
Meanwhile, Macedo, who has lost only once in his career, was delighted with the surprise victory.
In his post-fight interview, Macedo said: “I’m very happy because I saw that my opponent is strong but five fights, three knockouts, it’s disrespectful to me because (I have) 11 victories , 11 KOs.
“But maybe I’ll come back, maybe we’ll have a rematch.”
“I am ready at any time. I train every day. I’m ready. I’ll fight anyone, I’m ready.
