UNA Football prepares for season opener against Indiana State

FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – The University of North Alabama (UNA) will face Indiana State University in its season opener on Thursday, Sept. 1.

This is the first season that UNA will be eligible for the playoffs as they make their Division I debut. UNA Football head coach Chris Willis said in an interview that this could put some pressure on his players, but he wants his team to play one game at a time.

“We are ready to go out there and know where we are, and we have to kind of see where we are in all phases of the game,” Willis said, “and hopefully we correct the mistakes. of winning instead of losing.

Willis also said Indiana State is a new opponent for them, which means they don’t know much about them. They’re hoping to “open the playbook” to try for a win in week one.

The game is scheduled to start in Indiana at 5:00 p.m.
