Ukraine sees path to increased grain exports after first shipment

KYIV, Ukraine – Ukraine has said its first shipment of grain since the start of the Russian invasion has been a success and could see exports rise to pre-war levels within two months, but players from the industry warned that significant hurdles remain.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s infrastructure minister, said 17 ships loaded with grain were ready to leave Ukraine’s three Black Sea ports operating under a deal reached last month. He said two or three ships will soon start leaving daily, with traffic eventually reaching 100 outbound ships each month.
