Western nations blatantly ignore ‘widespread practice’ among Kyiv troops, Moscow says

A “barbaric murder of Russian prisoners of war” is just the latest in a series of war crimes committed by Ukrainian troops, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday. The statement came after videos leaked online allegedly showed Russian servicemen being executed after their surrender.

“This is a widespread practice of the Ukrainian Armed Forces which is actively supported by the kyiv regime and outright ignored by its Western supporters,” underlined the ministry. He also castigated the actions of Ukrainian soldiers as “deliberate and methodical murder”.

“No one will be able to portray him as a ‘tragic exception’ amid the kyiv regime’s alleged total compliance with the norms governing the rights of prisoners of war,” he added. read the statement.

The footage reportedly shows a group of soldiers dressed in Russian uniforms walking to troops wearing uniforms bearing Ukrainian insignia. It also depicts captured soldiers lying on the ground, presumably dead.


The video shows the “barbaric nature” of President Vladimir Zelensky’s regime, as well as his supporters, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

This is not the first high-profile incident allegedly involving Russian and Ukrainian troops to attract media attention. In March, another video surfaced on social media allegedly showing Ukrainian soldiers shooting at the legs of Russian soldiers lying on the ground at close range.

Later the same month, footage reportedly showed the murder of a wounded Russian soldier lying on a road somewhere in Ukraine. The bodies of other soldiers dressed in Russian uniforms and lying in pools of blood were also visible in the video. Some of them had their hands tied behind their backs and no weapons were visible on any of them.
