Ukraine bans male citizens aged 18-60 from leaving: report
the Ukrainian SThe State Border Guard Service announced on Thursday that men between the ages of 18 and 60 were banned from leaving the country, according to reports.
This action came as a result of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyythe declaration of Martial law across the country on Thursday after Russia invaded Ukraine and sent military strikes to major cities like Kiev.
“In particular, males between the ages of 18 and 60 who are citizens of Ukraine are prohibited from leaving Ukraine’s borders,” a statement from the service reads, according to CNN. “This regulation will remain in effect during the period of the legal regime of martial law. We ask citizens to take this information into consideration.”
Under martial law, military officials enforce the law, not civilian leaders or the police. He is usually invoked in time of war when the rule of law has broken down so much that the law is no longer in place.
It really is an alien concept:The Ukrainian president has declared martial law after the Russian attack. But what is it?
