Tyson Fury may be back in the ring soon after Joe Joyce called up the WBC heavyweight world champion for a showdown in February.
It shows growing confidence from Joyce, who has beaten Daniel Dubois and Carlos Takam in his last two fights – and now he wants to shoot the ‘Gypsy King’.
The Juggernaut is currently 13-0, but is willing to put that undefeated record on the line for a crack at Fury.
Current champion Fury is in the midst of a transformation when it comes to his next fight with WBA, IBF and WBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk, who is expected to have a rematch with Anthony Joshua.
Dillian Whyte is another man Fury could fight, but it’s also on the ropes as the WBC refuses to order the fight until he either drops or concludes the lawsuits he has against them over the course of the maddening four-year delay before his shot at the world title.
This could allow another boxer to step in and while Bob Arum has confirmed that the “Gypsy King” won’t fight until March or April 2022, Joyce is set for a February clash.
He took to Instagram and produced one of the polite calls in boxing history.
“I have a lot of respect for @ gypsyking101 as a friend and as a fighter, but my schedule is free in February #letsdothis # WBO1 # WBC2 #THEJUGGERNAUT”.
Givn Joyce is only behind Whyte, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr in the WBC rankings, it is no exaggeration that the two can go head-to-head.
