Police responded to reports of gunfire near Fort Detrick, a military base in Frederick, Maryland.
Two people were seriously injured near Fort Detrick, a military base in Frederick County, Md., Tuesday morning and the person who shot them died, police said.
“We are at the scene to respond to an active shooter in the 8400 block of Progress Drive,” Frederick, Md., Police said on Twitter. “Currently there are two victims and a suspect is on the ground.”
Police responded to reports of gunfire on Progress Drive near the military base around 8:30 a.m., said Allen Etzler, a spokesperson for the police department. Fort Detrick is approximately 52 miles northwest of Washington, DC
The two people who were shot had “fatal” injuries, he said.
Mr Etzler said the names and ages of the victims and the suspect were not immediately available. He said it was not yet known who killed the suspect.
