Two defendants after stabbing man taken to Decatur


DECATUR, Alabama – Two men face charges after Decatur police say they stabbed a man and knocked him over after he jumped out of a vehicle.

Police were called to Parkway Hospital about the stabbing on October 4.

Officers spoke to a man with injured head and ankle injuries. The victim told police he was driving a vehicle with two men when he got into an argument with a man he identified as Darren Jamahl Smith, 27, from Decatur.

Investigators learned that Smith turned around and stabbed the victim in the head several times before he could get out of the vehicle to escape.

Police learned that the driver, identified as Stanley Jeremy Grier, 38, of Decatur, put the vehicle in reverse and rolled over the victim’s ankle and hip.

Someone took the victim to hospital where she was treated and released.

Smith is charged with second degree assault. Smith was already on bail at the time of his arrest. He was incarcerated at Morgan County Correctional Facility on $ 80,000 bail.

Police charged Grier with second degree assault and he was taken to Morgan County Correctional Center on $ 2,500 bail.
