Two-alarm fire at Jim’s Steaks in South Philadelphia, PA


Firefighters battle a two-alarm fire at a famous South Philadelphia cheesesteak shop.

According to WCAU-TV, the fire at Jim’s Steaks at 4th and South Streets in South Philadelphia started just before 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.

The station reports that “smoke could be seen billowing from every floor of the four-story building as firefighters knocked down the windows.”

WPVI-TV quoted a Tweet from the Philadelphia Fire Department that read, “This incident at 4th & South is now at two alarms, which means approximately 100 PFD members are responding – firefighters, medics, chiefs and staff from support.”

The restaurant manager told an NBC 10 reporter that an air conditioning unit stopped working and then started smoking.

No injuries were to be deplored late Friday morning.
