On Friday’s show of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said Twitter had “failed” by being “the judge of what can come out” and censoring things like the story of Hunter Biden and The Babylon Bee and needed a “new sheriff.”
Maher said: “The argument for me is…did Twitter fail to set up [itself] in the past as a judge of what can come out there? And I would say yes, you have. You failed when you threw The New York Post off Twitter for talking about the Hunter Biden emails and it turned out to be a real story. … Have you read about this Babylon Bee? … They were flagged for – they posted a funny video, it’s fun for them, okay. “Sensitive content,” said Twitter, in the video, they mocked Twitter for being too sensitive. So it is through the looking glass. … It’s well into what satire has always been and the fact that they flagged it as insensitive shows their complete lack of awareness of what their own problem is. If that’s where the line is, you failed, Twitter. You need a new sheriff.
He added: “Twitter has become a leftist place. It’s just done. And “I think the North Star should be freedom of expression.”
