Turkey and Syria face devastation from earthquakes – ‘I buried my children today’

BELEN, Turkey — As the sun set on Girne Street on Tuesday, dozens of people, their hands and arms streaked with ghostly gray dust, silently combed through the rubble of flattened buildings.

Ismail Parlak and his wife dug through the rubble in search of Mr Parlak’s mother, buried, they said, somewhere under six stories of crumbling concrete and twisted metal.
