The mayor’s office warned residents to stay home after the tornado so crews could assess the damage.

Earlier Sunday, another damaging tornado hit the town of Yazoo, about 170 miles southwest of Tupelo, as part of a series of storms sweeping the southeast.
“We didn’t report any injuries, but a lot of structures were damaged,” Yazoo County Emergency Management Director Jack Willingham said in an email.
