Trump to hold South Bronx campaign rally to court Black, Latino voters

NEW YORK — Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally Thursday in the South Bronx, a rare appearance for the Republican presidential candidate in a predominantly Democratic area and a move that is already drawing backlash from residents and local politicians.

Trump grew up in Queens, but Thursday’s rally will be the first in New York’s five boroughs. The rally is part of a broader effort by the campaign to win over Black and Latino voters, who make up the majority of the South Bronx’s population. It’s also an attempt to make good use of the former president’s time in New York for his criminal trial, in which he is accused of falsifying business records to conceal a hush money payment to an adult film actress.
