Trump calls Washington Post ‘fake news’ following report claiming he’s ‘scrambled’ to find lawyers after FBI raid

Former President Donald Trump has responded to a Washington Post report that said he was urgently seeking to bolster his legal team following an FBI raid on his private Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.

In an article on Truth Social, Trump called the report “fake news” and continued to claim he was innocent of any wrongdoing.

“WAPO’s story that ‘Trump scrambles to add senior lawyers’ to Mar-a-Lago Raid case is, as usual, FAKE NEWS,” he wrote. “I already have excellent, experienced lawyers – I’m very happy with that.”

The Washington Post published a report on Tuesday – titled “Trump rushes to hire top lawyers – but he keeps hearing ‘no'” – in which the outlet claimed that Trump’s current legal team has no one with experience in federal affairs.

“The struggle to find expert legal advice puts Trump in a bind as he faces potential criminal exposure following a dispute with the National Archives that escalated into a federal investigation into possible violations of the law. on espionage and other laws,” the outlet reported.

“Everyone is saying no,” the report adds, citing “a prominent Republican attorney, who like others spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss confidential conversations.”

The Jeff Bezos-owned newspaper went on to say, “Once again, Trump is struggling to find a veteran criminal defense attorney with a solid track record dealing with the Justice Department in a sprawling investigation and to multiple strands.”

Trump has repeatedly criticized the FBI raid.
