Trump again praises ‘freedom convoy’ protest warrants bound for DC

Former President Donald Trump has shown his support for the “freedom convoy” of truckers protesting vaccination mandates for the second time in a week.

The former president said in a statement:

The Freedom Convoy peacefully protests the harsh policies of far-left madman Justin Trudeau who destroyed Canada with senseless Covid mandates. Now, thankfully, the Freedom Convoy could be coming to DC with American truckers who want to protest Biden’s ridiculous Covid policies.

The Freedom Convoy is a Canadian-based group of truckers protesting the vaccination mandates of far-left Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau began requiring truckers crossing the Canadian border to show proof of vaccination starting Jan. 15.

President Joe Biden implemented a similar vaccination requirement for commuters on January 22.

After traveling to Ottawa, Canada’s capital, the Freedom Convoy plans to proceed to Washington, DC.

Friday’s statement is not the first time Trump has shown support for truckers. At his rally in Texas last weekend, Trump said truckers “did far more to defend American freedom than our own leaders.”

New Jersey State Sen. Ed Durr (R), a former trucker who stunned the nation when he defeated longtime Senate Speaker Stephen Sweeney last November, also signaled his support for truckers during from an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.

“I think their voices definitely need to be heard. I think the only way people hear things is when you protest,” Durr said.

However, big tech is doing everything in its power to silence the voices of truckers. GoFundMe on Wednesday froze a fundraiser titled “Freedom Convoy 2022” after the page raised more than $10 million. Additionally, Facebook removed a US-based convoy group called “Convoy to DC 2022”.

“They like to silence people who tell the truth,” said Jeremy Johnson, a Facebook page organizer. Johnson also had his personal account removed from the platform.

In his statement, Trump denounced big tech censorship and highlighted his upcoming social media platform, TruthSocial.

“Facebook is canceling Freedom Convoy USA accounts and GoFundMe is denying access to Freedom Convoy-owned funds,” Trump said. “This is unacceptable and extremely dangerous in any country that values freedom of expression.”

“TruthSocial is announcing today that we welcome the Freedom Convoy with open arms to communicate freely about TruthSocial at our launch – coming very soon,” Trump added.
