Trump 2024 opponent Vivek Ramaswamy slams possible impending indictment: ‘Dark moment in American history’

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Saturday slammed rumors of a possible impending indictment of President Trump, calling it “un-American” to prosecute the former president.

“It is unAmerican for the ruling party to use police power to arrest political rivals,” the entrepreneur said on Twitter. “If a Republican prosecutor in 2004 had used a campaign finance tactic to arrest then-candidate John Kerry while Bush and Cheney were in power, liberals would have cried foul – and rightly so.”

“This will mark a dark moment in American history and undermine public confidence in our electoral system itself,” Ramaswamy continued. “I call on the Manhattan District Attorney to reconsider this action and set aside partisan politics in the service of preserving our constitutional republic.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is reportedly planning to indict the former president over his alleged secret money scandal with porn star Stormy Daniels.

During his 2016 presidential campaign, Michael Cohen, then Trump’s lawyer, allegedly sent Daniels $130,000 to stop him from going public with his 2006 affair with Trump. Cohen was reportedly reimbursed by Trump in installments.

Prosecutors will likely argue that the $130,000 payment to Daniels was an inappropriate donation to the Trump campaign because Daniels’ NDA aided his candidacy.

A court source told Fox News Digital that members of Alvin Bragg’s office will be meeting with law enforcement to “discuss logistics for some time next week, which would mean they anticipate an indictment next week. “.
