Trevor Noah has a twisted idea on how Russia could spin the war protest live

Trevor Noah puts nothing above Russia — and that includes putting an evil spin on Monday’s anti-war protest by an editor at a state-run newscast. (Watch the video below.)

The host of “The Daily Show” presented a highlight of the protest, during which the woman held up a sign that read “NO WAR” in English. In Russian below, the poster read: “Stop the war. Don’t believe the propaganda. They lie to you.”

Noah called the move “one of the bravest things I’ve ever seen”, but thought Russia would find a way to twist the message as its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine continues.

“Knowing the Russian propaganda machine, she will probably find a way to twist all of this,” Noah said. “They’ll say, ‘You saw the ‘No War’ sign. There is no war! Everything is normal. Everything is fine! ‘” Noah punctuated the spin with an awkward thumbs-up.

The protester, identified as Marina Ovsyannikova, was reportedly arrested.
