Trent Alexander-Arnold thinks Liverpool produced ‘one of the best’ seasons in Premier League history

Rent Alexander-Arnold insists that the current Liverpool side deserve to be recognized as one of the greatest teams in Premier League history after their sensational season.

With two games remaining in their campaign, the Reds are still in search of a historic four-fold. That, however, hinges on Manchester City slipping against Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season, with Liverpool, who host Wolves on Sunday, trailing Pep Guardiola’s side by a point.

The Coupe de la Ligue and FA Cup are already in the bag for the Reds and with a Champions League final in Paris next weekend they will have played every game possible this season.

At one point in January, City were 14 points clear at the top of the table, even though Liverpool had two games in hand, and few would have expected the title race to end in the final 90 minutes.

But he has indeed come down to the wire and Alexander-Arnold thinks he and his teammates should feel nothing but immense pride as they reflect on their season, even if they are failing in the league.

“When there are seven or eight games to go, surely you think someone must drop a few points,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports.

“We did, but it was pretty even. You think back to January and we were miles behind them and we fought back, we put ourselves in an incredible position.

“To push the way we all have in competitions this season, for me it has to be one of the best team performances in a season in Premier League history.

“We won all the trophies until the last game, so that’s all you can really ask for. It was a special achievement no matter what happened on Sunday.
