Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea continue to be among the most active clubs in Europe in this summer’s transfer window. With Thomas Tuchel at risk of losing another target – namely Jules Kounde – to Barcelona after being snubbed by Raphinha, the Blues boss is ready to move on to another defensive big name. Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana is believed to have emerged as a serious option for the club and could arrive in a double deal amid interest in Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
At Arsenal, Cody Gakpo continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates. Mikel Arteta was another manager turned down by Raphinha and has not since added to his wide options, with the PSV Eindhoven star believed to be on the club’s radar.
Meanwhile, there’s only one big name linked with Tottenham after their big summer spending. Indeed, Spurs have reportedly edged out Juventus in the race to sign Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo as Antoni Conte eyes another big signing. Follow all the latest news, gossip and rumors below!
Nuno Tavares steps up talks with possible Arsenal exit
While it’s hard to imagine Oleksandr Zinchenko swapping Manchester City for Arsenal just to step in as Kieran Tierney’s replacement, the fact that the Ukraine international has arrived obviously bolsters the left-back department.
So much so in fact, Nuno Tavares could be allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims officials from Serie A side Atalanta have arrived in London to offer the defender a loan.
Chelsea interested in the transfer of Wilfried Zaha
There’s nothing like a Wilfried Zaha transfer rumor to really underline the summer feeling, is there?
The Crystal Palace star is constantly linked with a move away from the club, although he remains Selhurst Park’s key man.
Now it’s Chelsea’s turn to follow suit.
Foot Mercato claim that Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the Ivorian and could finally try to lure him to Stamford Bridge, especially if Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech leave.
Cristiano Ronaldo swap deal rejected
Back at Manchester United for talks, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain.
A number of top European clubs have walked away from a move and the 37-year-old’s options appear to be dwindling.
Even a move to Atletico Madrid – a club he’s caused so much pain to over the years – has been mooted, such is his desperation to play Champions League football this season.
For their part, United are reportedly interested in Antoine Griezmann but know that a swap deal between the two is extremely unlikely.
Tottenham could still move Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi
Clement Lenglet may have arrived to bolster Antonio Conte’s defence, although there have been plenty of reports to suggest Tottenham aren’t quite finished on that front.
Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi was a frequently touted name earlier in the window and, although expensive, he would remain on Spurs’ radar.
“Spurs absolutely adore him and I reported earlier this summer that the 22-year-old was one of the names on their centre-back wish list,” said football.london’s Alasdair Gold.
“He mainly plays on the left of central defense where Tottenham now have Davies and Lenglet, although the latter can play in the center if needed.”
Chelsea still open to deals with Barcelona
With Raphinha and potentially Jules Kounde having been robbed right under their noses, it might be reasonable to expect Chelsea to harbor some resentment towards Barcelona.
Still, Spanish outlet Sport claim the Blues are still open to deals with the Camp Nou giants, with Barca retaining interest in Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
West Ham told to increase Piotr Zielinski offer
West Ham seem happy to spend big this summer as David Moyes prepares for another season of European football.
While Jesse Lingard has opted to move elsewhere, the Hammers have coughed up big fees for Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca and retain interest in Lille’s Amadou Onana, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.
Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski, meanwhile, would be another rather eye-catching target.
Still, according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, the east London club have offered around £25m for the midfielder, while Napoli are looking for over £37m.
One to watch…
Chelsea considering sensational move for Harry Kane
Harry Kane looks happy at Tottenham at the moment amid reports the England captain could yet sign a new deal.
Considering his situation at Spurs at this time last year, it’s a remarkable turnaround in fortune.
Then the reports from the German outlet BILD turn out to be surprising. While Bayern Munich have made their interest public, the outlet suggests Chelsea are seen as rivals to sign the striker in what would be one of the most controversial transfers of all time.
Hard to see now, of course, but Kane is in the final two years of his contract and will be in a very good position to decide his future next season.
Cody Gakpo: Price revealed for Arsenal target
While Marquinhos has arrived to fill Arsenal’s options on the wing, Mikel Arteta has yet to revisit that department since being snubbed by Raphinha.
Indeed, the fact that the Gunners boss has tried to sign the Brazilian suggests he is still keen on attacking options despite signing Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira as well.
PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo has been touted as a target and noted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now revealed the Dutchman’s asking price.
“PSV Eindhoven are hoping to keep him and his price has always been around €40-45m (around £33.5-38m),” he told Caught Offisde.
“He can be a name to watch in the coming weeks as a big opportunity for many clubs.
“But PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy hopes to keep him at the club.”
Nicolo Zaniolo: Tottenham edge ahead of Juventus in race to sign Roma star
Nicolo Zaniolo is pretty much the only name linked with Tottenham after a busy summer window for the club.
The Roma star is set to leave the Italian capital after Paulo Dybala arrived, with Tottenham and Juventus hunting him down.
On that front, some good news has emerged for Spurs supporters.
Tuttosport claim the North London club have edged out Juve in the race to sign the 23-year-old.
Arsenal gave Paqueta a boost
Arsenal have received a potential boost over Lucas Paqueta.
Gunners technical director Edu recently admitted his admiration for his fellow Brazilian but insisted no transfer was on the cards.
However, that position could conceivably stand a chance after Lyon’s chief recruiting officer, former Liverpool midfielder Bruno Cheyrou, admitted the club needed to downsize.
“We need to reduce the size of the squad. In terms of departures, we will analyze the offers on a case-by-case basis, but the economy will come into consideration,” he said.
“We will study the offers with Jean-Michel Aulas and Vincent Ponsot in order to make the best decisions. I am here to ensure the best team possible, but there are also other things to take into account.”
