Traditional retail brands woke up to e-commerce post-pandemic, says Bharati Balakrishnan, director of Shopify India


There is a lot of buzz in the retail industry with many new developments, including India’s plans to create an Open Network Digital Commerce Platform (ONDC).

The pandemic years have seen a massive shift towards e-commerce and while much of this has been done through marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart, many retailers have shifted to their own online storefronts. This is made possible by companies like Shopify who offer tools to create the required e-commerce infrastructure and interface.

In India, merchants using Shopify include high street brands such as Lakme, Colorbar, Le15, Blue Tokai, John Jacobs, Hidesign and many smaller outfits and brands.
