Tottenham still have a stronger attack than Manchester United, even after Jadon Sancho moved to Old Trafford.
That’s according to former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara, who made the bold statement when he joined talkSPORT to rank the Premier League’s best striking forces.
After months of speculation, United delighted their supporters on Friday by announcing the arrival of England winger Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
This ended a long lawsuit for the 21-year-old, valued at £ 108million by the German club last summer, but joined the Red Devils on a reduced contract worth around £ 73million.
It adds another strand to United’s deadly attack, with Sancho set to line up alongside Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice.
However, O’Hara insists his former club Spurs – who recently tied Heung-min Son to a new long-term contract – have better offensive training.
In fact, he says Tottenham’s top three are among the strongest in England’s top flight, despite Gareth Bale leaving after his Real Madrid loan ended.
Well, that’s if Man City-linked Harry Kane is convinced to stay at White Hart Lane this summer …
Ranking the Premier League’s best striking forces, O’Hara told Drivetime: “Liverpool have the Premier League’s best first three – Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
“It’s better than Man United, for me. Not based on last season, just based on talent and what they can produce when they’re at their best.
“I would also say that Man City, if they line up with Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne as a false nine, it’s probably better than Manchester United too.
“City need to recruit a new striker, but KDB is brilliant when he plays there. If it’s a choice between Gabriel Jesus and Cavani you would have to say Cavani, but if you speak Foden or Rashford you would say Foden.
“In my opinion, I think Spurs’ top three at their best are always better than Manchester United’s. “
This elicited a slightly stunned reaction from talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein, who asked, “So what, Son, Kane and Moura are better than Rashford, Cavani and Sancho?”
But O’Hara was not discouraged.
“Yes,” the former Spurs man said.
“His is better than Rashford, Kane is better than Cavani, and OK Moura is no better than Sancho…
“But Moura finished well last season and produced at the top level.”
Last season’s Premier League table obviously paints a different picture – even with Bale Tottenham only managed to finish seventh, while United were runners-up to champion Man City.
Only time will tell if the former Spurs star is right this quarter, or if Sancho can help the Red Devils do better …
