Tottenham ‘sensational’ but Jamie O’Hara wonders why Antonio Conte’s side failed to deliver thrilling Champions League performance against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Premier League

Tottenham delivered a thrilling attacking display in the 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

But it has left former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara wondering: where is the season at?

Antonio Conte’s side took control of Group D after scoring three early goals in the first half.

Heung-min Son bagged a fantastic brace, while Harry Kane won and converted a penalty as Tottenham activated the style.

Even when Frankfurt fell to ten men and pulled back a goal, Spurs pushed for a fourth goal – and Kane missed a stoppage-time penalty.

However, such drama is lacking at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the Premier League.

With Spurs sitting third, four points behind league leaders Arsenal, questions have been asked about Conte’s conservative methods.

O’Hara said: “One thing that annoys me with this Tottenham team at the moment: you concede the first goal and then all of a sudden you wake up.

“We played brilliant, flowing football and we were brilliant to watch tonight.

“We went after Frankfurt, they couldn’t handle Kane and Son. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was absolutely fantastic.

“Why don’t we play like this in the Premier League?”

And former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy insisted Tottenham went from “average bang” in the Premier League to “sensational” on Wednesday night.

“It’s the puzzle. I’ve seen enough games this season where Spurs have been average and got results,” Cundy told talkSPORT.

“But for some parts tonight Tottenham were sensational.

“Son and Kane were tearing Frankfurt apart.”
