Tottenham face potential knock ahead of North London derby clash with Arsenal as Hugo Lloris suffers a right thigh injury

Tottenham could be without Hugo Lloris for the North London derby at Arsenal in October.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper was impressive in Spurs’ 6-2 win over Leicester last weekend as he fended off a second-half Patson Daka header that prevented the Foxes from making it 3-3.

Lloris joined the France squad on Monday ahead of this week’s Nations League matches with Austria and Denmark, but has since left his side at Clairefontaine.

He has been diagnosed with a right thigh injury, which will concern Spurs boss Antonio Conte with a trip to Arsenal on the horizon for October 1.

“Arrived Monday morning at the Clairefontaine National Football Center, Hugo Lloris consulted Dr Franck Le Gall,” said a press release from the French Football Federation.

“A minor right thigh injury has been diagnosed for the Tottenham goalkeeper.

“He is therefore unavailable for the two matches against Austria on Thursday at the Stade de France and in Denmark on Sunday.”

Lloris is the second Tottenham player to retire from international duty after Ben Davies was forced out of the Wales squad with a knee injury. He also faces a race against time to be fit to face Arsenal.
