Tottenham are “confident” to make Paulo Fonseca their new manager, we learned.
Spurs have been on the hunt for a new boss since the shock start of Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese were sacked less than a week before their Carabao Cup final date with Manchester City.
They appeared to have ex-Inter Milan, Juventus, Italy and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte last week, however, talks broke down.
But Spurs search appears to be over with transfer expert Fabrice Romano, via Gianluca Di Marzio, claiming that Spurs will appoint Fonseca for a three-year contract.
Romano adds that Fonseca is “appreciated” by Fabio Paratici, who is expected to be announced as Spurs’ new sporting director.
Paratici signed a three-year contract with Spurs, Romano claims.
Fonseca, who led Porto, Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk, has been out of work since leaving Rome last month.
The 45-year-old would thus trade with his predecessor Mourinho, who will take charge of Roma this summer.
But before heading to the Italian capital, the Special One will be working with talkSPORT four on our Euro 2020 coverage.
Jose Mourinho has signed on to talkSPORT for extensive network coverage of this summer’s European Championship. Jose will be with listeners throughout the program, from talkSPORT’s live Euro GameDay programming to regular breakfast slots, which will include pre-match information and an exclusive post-match phone for talkSPORT listeners.
