Tottenham “backslid”, says talkSPORT host, who criticizes Daniel Levy “stubborn” for “keeping Harry Kane against his will” as comparison to Jack Grealish is made

Things are looking bleak for Tottenham, but they have only themselves to blame, says talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

Before the international break, Spurs had not conceded a goal and managed to keep star player Harry Kane. However, since all teams returned they have since suffered heavy defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and their fierce rivals Arsenal.

Things look bleak for Spurs after such a promising start

The pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo is increasing but “stubborn” Daniel Levy is to blame, believes Crook, who has criticized the Spurs president’s stance on keeping Harry Kane at the club.

“What Tottenham did, out of Daniel Levy’s stubbornness, was keep a player against his will, and at what cost?

“This team, they look tired, looks like they need a makeover, looks like a number of players probably don’t want to be there, you could even put [Tanguy] Ndombele in this list too and they are backing down.

“Yes, they kept the England captain, one of the greatest goalscorers in Premier League history, but the bigger picture looks a lot darker after making that decision.

Kane had another bad afternoon for Spurs

“They should have sold Harry Kane, bought three or four players like Aston Villa [when selling Jack Grealish] have and made the team more competitive.

“What they should have also done was have a plan when they fired Jose Mourinho and ultimately not go down to number seven or eight on the list and hire Nuno Espirito Santo, a manager who was basically fired by Wolverhampton Wanderers. “

During the summer transfer window, two of football’s biggest names were Jack Grealish and Harry Kane were linked with moves.

The former club of the former received £ 100million from Manchester City and reinvested it in signing Danny Ings, Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia.

Meanwhile, the latter have kept their player and it looks like they might have done better to follow Villa’s approach instead.

For now though, until at least the January transfer window, Kane, Spurs and Levy will need to mend their relationship and help Nuno achieve much-needed victories.
