Tottenham appoint Gretar Steinsson as new performance director as Fabio Paratici’s recruitment team takes shape

Ottenham have appointed Gretar Steinsson as the club’s performance director.

The 40-year-old joins manager Fabio Paratici’s new recruitment team, which also includes Andy Scoulding as assistant performance director.

Paratici last season assessed the scouting setup and saw technical performance manager Steve Hitchen and scouting manager Brian Carey leave after years of service.

Steinsson comes from the Icelandic Football Association, where he worked as a technical adviser. He has previous Premier League experience, playing for Bolton, and held similar positions behind the scenes at Fleetwood and later Everton.

Tottenham have been busy strengthening Antonio Conte’s squad for next season, with Richarlison signed from Everton in a £60m deal.

The Brazilian striker follows goalkeeper Fraser Forster, veteran Croatian international Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma at the north London club.

Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet and Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence remain key targets as Conte looks to complete the bulk of their club’s summer business next week.
