Tottenham: Antonio Conte makes transfer recommendations with pressure on Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici

Conte asked the club for two months to assess the level of its squad and said he had a “good meeting” with Levy, the president of Spurs, and general manager Paratici.

Among the players who could leave Spurs this month are Steven Bergwijn and Tanguy Ndombele, but Conte insisted he was counting on the Dutch forward, while declining to comment publicly on Ndombele’s situation.

Conte put the spotlight on Levy and Paratici to follow through on his recommendations to the market, saying the club would have “the last word” on transfers.

“We talked about the situation. It was a good meeting, ”Conte said Tuesday. “The owner [Levy] and Paratici have started this season together.

“I arrived in the middle of the season and they know the situation a lot better than I do. It was a good meeting to talk to them and tell them my thoughts after two months at Tottenham.

“It’s okay. I repeat, I can give a lot of work to the clubs I have worked in in the past and now in the present. I can give that and then the decisions are for the club, not for Me. The last word always comes back to the club.

“The club have to decide the best way forward. I have no expectations. I am a coach and I know there are a lot of issues that we have to solve. For me at the moment the best possible way is to get the best of my players and improve the team. Right now, that’s the only way I can go to improve the situation – to improve the team. So the club know our situation very well and they have to make the best decision.

“My way at the moment is to train my players and improve the level of the team. Then we will see the club’s decision, whether we want to improve in other aspects or not. Whether there is the possibility or not. For me to be honest it’s the right way with the club [regarding] my vision, my expectations and what I found. And how we can improve ourselves.
