Tommy Pham of the Reds and Joc Pederson of the Giants reportedly had a fight before the game
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham and San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson were involved in a brief altercation before Friday’s series opener at Great American Ball Park.
As the Giants warmed up in the outfield, Pham faced Pederson in the outfield in pregame warmups.
The pair quickly separated.
Pham was in the starting lineup Friday, third at bat as the designated hitter. But, shortly before game time, he agreed to be scratched pending the results of a Major League Baseball investigation.
The brawl was seen by reporters and happened before fans entered the stadium.
“We are investigating and learning as much as we can about the incident,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said before the game. “We take this very seriously. Until we have a clear understanding of what happened, we don’t want to discuss it.
